I have been in the market to get my 4610 a bigger brother. I looked at a 5610, a couple Case IH 585s, and a 7600. I ended up paying $7800 at auction for my 7600. It is in average condition, I suppose. I'll spend all winter working on it, but it runs very well the way it is.

Here are some comparisons:

The 5610 with low hours and a terrible repaint was bottom dollar at $11000.

The one 585 only had 600 hours, but sat outside a lot. bottom dollar was $7000.

Another 585 was not real great...still for sale at $5750 (last I checked)

A local dealer has some 5610 - 7610 series tractors (open station, 2 wheel drive). They want 16k for a nice 5610 and it goes up from there.

In my search, I also considered searching for a New Holland TN 75, or a newer Case IH. I could have paid up a couple more thousand and had a much newer tractor. Did I pick the right tractor, or am I just too much of a sucker for the old Fords? Will the old iron actually increase in value over time?

You aren't going to get a new 84 HP tractor for anything close to that price. And if your land/use supports a 2WD tractor it is a great fit and a great way to save money and get a tractor you can understand and work on. I get a lot of use out of old iron. That vintage of Fords are some of the best. Good looking too.
