Here is my 1955 ford 660 w/ 722 1-arm hyd loader, moving a round bale.

Bales are dry and are light-medium, and weight in around 800# or so.

Wow! Are your rear tires filled or do you have something back there for ballast that I just can't see in the pics?

The rears are 12.4x28's and are cacl filled (tubes ).

I also have a concrete 3pt weight back there.

Here is another shot o fthe other side of the tractor so you can see the weird 1-arm loader.. Also a shot of the concrete tub.

Soundguy, I always love your posts! Those are some great shots of the 1-armed bandit getting some work done. Is that a trip bucket or is it hydraulic?

Love the ingenuity of making the 3pt concrete bucket, too.
Thanks for sharing

Cool 1 arm FEL there. But that left front tire looks to be down a bit.

That's one jumbo hay bale.
Did you grow and bale the hay yourself? If so, what kind of equipment do you use to plant and harvest?

I've got 7 acres of pasture that are going to get planted in rye or oats when I get finished restoring my 1966 MF-135 and get some implements for that job.

Soundguy, thanks for showing us all those pictures. That loader is really interesting and I've never seen one before. The concrete tub looks like good and inexpensive ballast.

Flusher, that MF looks great just the way it is and I'm sure it will be fantastic when you are done.

I'll try to answer in order:

Julian: The loader is hyd up, gravity down ( SA cyl ), and the bucket is full hyd dump ( DA cyl ).

RobJ: The front was a tad low, but what you are seeing is the tire burried about 2" into the ground. The ground there is next to the hay ring and a horse wallow, and is very soft and kicked up.

Flusher:

I wish it was my hay. I bought it at the local co-op where I get my feed. I do however eventually plan to make my own hay, if i can buy the pasture next to me.(if the guy will sell.. instead of just letting it set there and grow weeds and blackberries ).

If I do get the other pasture.. i think i will go small and get a sickle bar mower and a square bailer.

Going small--that's my aim also.

Neighbor has a nice 6-ft tandem drag disk he's not using. Can get that gratis.

Plan to make a drag out of old tires. Got the tires free. Just need to lash them together.

Need some type of planter for rye or oats. Broadcast or drill? Don't know yet.

Need a side delivery rake or maybe a swather. See those in the Friday classifieds pretty often. Maybe a moco, but those tend to be pricy.

Sickle bar mowers show up in the classified pretty regularly and I see them lying around in people's yards all the time. Make nice lawn ornaments.

Saw a rusty square baler along Hwy99 into Red Bluff this AM. I'll look at it but I'm not really anxious to restore one of those things. I understand that the knotter mechanisms are bears to work on and get running right. May I'll punt on baling and hire that done.

Got a 5x10 ft flat bed trailer to haul the product to the fenceline. And my son and his fiance have strong backs and willing hands to get the bales onto the trailer. Don't know how many square bales I can get off 6-7 acres, but it won't be many.
