old into mower 3 pt hitch

I am converting an old int. mower to 3 pt style. I have the lower part done but I'm not sure how far out I need to put the upper lift hookup out. My other imps look like the upper and lower pin points are about in line with oneother. Am I on the right track? The upper lift arm on my tractor is a hydro. Ram so I have about 12" of play but I want to save some to tilt the knife.
