Hi folks,
I just returned home a couple of hours ago with an old Bolens Cultivator. I'm guessing the vintage to be late 40s to early 50s. Of course, I'll try to post pictures tomorrow night but for now I'm wondering who the resident experts are. I've been around small engines since the 50s but I don't recognize this one - has a unique spark plug location in the edge of the head between the two valves. It is internal magneto ignition and the mag is under the flywheel.
At first' it sort of reminded of the angled placement of plugs on the engines on the early Gravely 'L'. I've pretty much ruled out B&S and Lausen, thinking maybe Clinton or Wisconsin. Of course the data plate is missing. so no help there.
Stand by for more- tomorrow PM.
