1960 Case 430, 1947 Ford 8N, 1942 Ford 9N [not running], 5252 Cub Cadet to cut the lawn, John deere 140 , Sears SS12, Crafsman 5000GT, and a Gravley 816 which may be the most rugged tractor that I have ever seen.
I was given an old welder by my brother in-law. It's a Westinghouse [AC only] that will crank up to 300 amps. I know I will never go much higher than 200 amps but this is what I got. I would like to get some smaller leads for it as the ones that came with it are about twenty feet long and weigh a ton. I would like to get new ends and make a shorter set. Does any one know were to get the ends that go plug into the machine? They push in and turn a quarter turn to lock.

Your local welding supply (Abco?) should have them. When you see the price of copper leads you might rethink!

why would you want to shorten the leads, most people want to put longer leads on a welder, 20 foot is about mininum for a welder you cant move around, very well. and if it will do 300 amps you need some pretty hefty leads. by the way, if you dont want those leads, I will take em:licking::laughing: they would cost a fortune today!

You could try here, or a lot of places on the web even amazon.com look for welding cable connectors.

You could put alighter length, about 5-6 ft long,on the stinger one, called a whip, you can pick it up and hold it easier, get it no more than you need for your max amps run, probably smaller holder too.,just need to connect it to the end of your existing lead.

I have a Westinghouse 250 amp welder that was given to me by my employer about 10 years ago after it set on top self of warehouse for 10 years. It is a good unit but don't use much as it weights so much it is hard to move on gravel floor of my shop.

You could put it on one of those cheep moving dollies.
I have an old buzz box mounted to one, and I can roll it all over my gravel driveway.

The older buzz boxes are better built, copper windings versus aluminum and usually rotary setting versus a switch which fails as it has to handle all the current. If the leads are in good shape the stinger idea is a great one, I do that for length.
