Not sure if this is the right forum, if not please let me know what would be a better place. I'm wondering if anyone has built a DIY oil water separator for a garage drain. My garage drains are just going to gravity feed through pipe away from garage. I'd like to "clean" the water, if practical, of any oil based chemicals before it goes into the ground. Do plan to be as environmentally friendly as I can with speedy dry and such but if I hose of floor I know some oil and other chemicals will still be there. Anyone built something or have ideas? I've looked at how the big commercial separators work and thought I could make a smaller version maybe using 2 plastic garbage cans buried in the ground. Or something like that.
