Oil & Fuel Oil translation please

Perhaps I should have posted this in the oil section but don't want to offend the fella's with their opinions of third world junk.
I have a Rhino 344 made by Benye (now owned by John Deere) and the book calls for HC 11 (sy1152-79) oil in the crankcase. I have been using 40wt diesel oil in the summer. The tractor needs the 1000 hr oil change.. any suggestions as to oil? BTW, the tractor still runs great with no smoking or knocking. I have a koyker loader on it and it's a handy little critter.

Any name brand 15W40 engine oil should be just fine. I personally use Rotella-T 15W40. If it's got over 300 hours, 5W40 synthetic is also quite acceptable. Just make sure it's marked with an ASI rating that starts with the letter C (indicating for use in diesel engines).

I have been using either 30wt or 40wt diesel oil but I just got some rotella 15w-40 and will give it a try...... thanks

Greg is right on the money with Shell Rotella T15w-40. I sold Shell lubricants for years. Billions miles have been logged with this brand! It's still the number one choice internationally for diesel engines.

Au contraire, Chevron's Delo400 15w-40 series 3 Superior Lubricant. Accepted and specified around the world (and available at Costco, Wal-Mart, etc.). I use it in both of my diesel generators, my truck, and my tractor.

I just put that 400 lube in the FarmPro 2420 this weekend. We'll see how it holds up. Although I doubt that any of the made in USA oil would be a problem in these considering the crap they probably use in China.
