2006 Jinma 284
I have a 2006 Jinma 284 and have been having some oil spewing out of my crankcase breather whenever I increase my engine RPMs, once the RPMs are lowere it stops spitting out oil through the crankase breather. Could it be possible that I still have too much oil in the engine or is there something else here that is a much bigger problem. I did note the my pressure gauge was in the 2.0 range.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Peter

FYI I changed the head gasket a week ago and it has not overheated anymore but, prior to changing the head gasket it continued to spew oil through the crankcase breather only at increased rpms.

It is difficult to read my oil dipstick since it has several nicks on the dipstick, as a result I relied on the engine specs I got online and discovered that I was too full.

Is there a baffle in the breather? If not, you could make or buy one for it. I would check the cylinders for compression to see if it is in specs and not blowing by more than normal.

Too much oil can cause that, as can a dirty breather. If the filtration material is not removable, take the whole unit off the engine and clean it thoroughly with diesel fuel.

The metal mesh material was removed and it is clean except for some oil residual as a result of it spitting through.

Unless there's water in that oil, it sounds like your crankcase still might be overfull. You haven't noticed any oil in your radiator, have you? Or water in the oil pan? Warmer than usual on the temperature gauge?

No, I have no oil in my radiator or water in my oil. Although I did notice that my oil pressure was low, as I stated before it runs at 2.0 and below. The engine temp did get a little hot and ran above 80 but never overheated, I attributed it to the heat but it was only 83 degrees this weekend.

Ok, assuming all else is normal then - it may be related to your scratched up dipstick. Since you have a 2006 model, I'm going to assume it's the Y385 engine. For reasons I've never understood, YangDong configured that basic engine with several different sump capacities. I suggest you take a photo of the engine - emphasis on the oil sump - and post it here. Other Y385 owners with the same engine configuration will hopefully then advise where the correct oil level is on their dipsticks.

Greg is right. I have a 2003 and the sump is 6 quarts but many report something like 4.5 quarts. How much oil are you putting in it?

I've read some owners report as little as 3.5 liter capacity, although I don't know whether that included the filter.

Well I looked online and followed the specs I found which recommend 6.36 qts, I figured not too long after changing my oil and running the engine that I had obviously put in too much oil as it was very high on the dip stick. I let out some oil but it appears that it's still not enough.

Greg you are right on the engine it is a Y385, I'll get some photos soon, but I know for sure now that it's not 6.36 qts of oil. It appears that too much oil would also be the result of my low oil pressure of 2.0 and below.
