Anyone install an Oil Pressure gauge on a BX23? It is something that I'm considering. I also read that there is a bigger alternator for my tractor. Is there really a need for it? Thanks
Don't know if there is a place to take off for an oil pressure gauge on the BX. The alternator that came with the machine is adequate for all uses, unless you get into auxiliary lighting. Then you will need to change it. The high output alternator cost $165 and a few hours to install. Here is a link to the install process.... BX Alternator kit installation
Not sure if there are any unused taps on the BX engine anywhere that could be used to install an oil pressure sensor - however there is an oil pressure warning light on the dash so that must have a sensor somewhere on the engine. What a lot of car guys do in cases where they can't find a separate tap for an oil pressure gauge is use the one for the warning light and get a tee - put the sensor for the warning light on one leg of the tee and the sensor for the pressure gauge on another leg of the tee. The other option you have is to look thru some of the parts manuals for either the BX23 or BX2230 (same engine) or you could also look for info on the D905 engine that is used in the BX. At one point while searching thru google I found some info on the D905 because Kubota appears to also sell the engine for industrial purposes. If you can't find this info let me know - I think I may have it saved somewhere.
The oil switch (part number 15531-39010) screws into the side of the block. It seems it would be easy to take it out and replace with an oil line to a gauge, or use a "TEE" and have both. Light and gauge.
