Just got a TC33D a week or so ago and it takes about a minute for the pressure gauge to go from peg to middle (green area) operating pressure.

I've been letting it low idle till it reaches operating pressure. The thing runs great all day, hydraulics work fine, fluids look good, no leaks, etc.

Do you think it's a weak pump, sensor, the gauge itself, or something else?

If it's the pump I figure I'd better get it fixed before it just quits, but I can't see how it could be the pump if it eventually reaches pressure. If it's something else, I may wait. What do you think?

You are talking about the oil pressure aren't you? If so, get a pressure gauge and screw in the sending unit hole and check it that way.
If the pressure is low then, you can have one or several things wrong. You may have worn bearings, pressure relief valve, or pump problems, all could cause low pressure. Hopefully, it is just a gauge problem.
My TC33D has an idiot light. I have not had problems with it, but have had temp gauge problems.

ive got an idiot light.... the only gauges i have are fuel and coolant....

bsmith:

Welcome to TBN :D! The gauge sending units on the TC series tractors are not one of NH's strong points. All I have is a fuel and temperature guage. The fuel gauge "reads" low; so far the temperature guage seems
"relatively accurate". Enjoy your "33" and operate safely. Jay

I had the fuel gauge go out after a year. Sent to the dealer and they replaced just the fuel gauge. No problems now.

If the sending unit is still up top, like my old 1720 (same engine) there is a long tube (external to the engine) that goes from the lower crankcase all way up to the cam/valve area. Tube is extremely small in diameter (smaller than 1/8" OD) and located on the right (oil filter side) of the engine, half or more of the way to the back. It takes a little while for the pressure to get there and register. I think on my old 1720, I actuall drilled out either the lower or upper fitting where they attach because the hole was so small and I thought restricted flow. Could be to that one end is partially plugged.

You may want to consider slightly lighter oil, like 10w-30 vers 15w-40, etc.

I think you're looking at your coolant temperature guage and that's about the correct time for the coolant temp to start coming off the peg. The TC33 only has three guages, tachometer, fuel and coolant temp. You do have a oil pressure LIGHT, however, just to right of your glow plug light.

The oil pressure light on my TC33D has started to stay on (sometimes it flickers) when I start the tractor. I changed the oil & filter, but light is still on. (tractor only has 1000 hours)

Where is the sensor? I want to check wires and try manual guage as was suggested earlier.

Thanks for help.

check the exploded parts diagram.. then plumb in a mechanical one.. post back

Hooked up a manual guage ($15) and it measured 50 psi, so I probably have a bad sensor.

Thanks TripleT and Soundguy for the help. I found the sensor location in the electronic diagram - it's on the top front on the engine block, under the air intake tube.

This website is great!
