Hello All, New user here and a novice to the AG world. I am a proud papa of a lightly used (23 hours) Kubota L2800 4x4. So far I love the tractor and being a little over the top when it comes to maintenance, I have already purchased all the Kubota UDT fliud and filters for the 50hr service. what Oil do you guys recommend. I'm thinking about Valvoline Durablend at 50hr and then going full synthetic at the 100hr service. Feedback appreciated

If you plan on using SYN oil...then go ahead and put it in at the 50 hr mark. Thats exactly what I intend on doing.

So you are recommending full syn at 50 hr right....I thought about the Durablend semi syn at 50hr and then go 100% syn at 100 hrs. However I have no problem with going full syn at 50hr like you are recommending.
thanks

I used the recommended stock Kubota oil at 50 hrs. (these engines take longer than 50 hrs. to break in). At 100 hrs. I switched to Amsoil 15W40 and will change every 100 hrs.

I used Mystik JT8 10w-30 synthetic blend at 50 hours. I am changing to Rotella T 5w-40 (synthetic) at 100 hours (I am at 96 hours right now.)

You can change to synthetic at 50 hours if you want to, but I would save the money since Kubota
recomends another oil change at 100 hours, and then every 100 hrs.

Is Durablend a diesel oil? all I have seen is Durablend gasoline rated oils.

EDIT: I see on the Durablend website that the 10w-40 and 15w-40 oil is rated CF

Substantiation for that? Are they "broke in " at 55 hrs?..65 hrs?...maybe not even till MORE than 100 hrs??

Around here the dealers run them on a dyno at ( some percentage?? 90% or ??) for 2-3 hrs ( depending on the size of the tractor) right out of the box to make sure they are putting out full HP..fully adjusted..etc. If its not "broke in" after 2 hrs at 90% or more..right from the get-go...it wont ever be "broke in".

I have a water cooled Kubota engine here powering a genset and in NEITHER owners manual ( tractor or genset) does it say anything about "run it "X" amount of hours prior to using syn oils"!!

Might be for a 2800..??..but for a B3030..first oil change is suppose to be at 50 hrs...next at 200 hours and then every 200 hrs after that?

Syn blend...full syn...full "Dino" oil...I dont think IMHO you'll see jack squat difference as long as you change on a regular basis and use the proper oil filter. ( longevity difference) UNLESS your working that rig to death...then you need every ounce of "goodies" you can get. I am going to...Rotella 5W-30 syn because for some reason around here finding ANY diesal rated oil other than 15W-40 is like finding the winning lottery ticket? ( Im sure they are hiding it or something?..lol)

I will say this though..when I did the change from dino to Rot Syn 5W-30 in my genset ( Kubota water cooled engine) after about 3-4 minutes running it got MUCH quieter!!??? No idea why at all...but it most certainly did "quiet down"???

Actualy it says to change oil every 100 hours and filter every 200 hours, but that does not make any sense to me, for me 100 hours = one year (or real close) so changing oil and filter at least once a year is what most oil manufacturers recomend.

I attached a scan of the maintenance schedule

In MY manual..it says..."ENGINE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE"..at 50; 200; 400; 600 hrs..etc..etc.

Tranny fluid for HST at 50; 300; 600 etc.

EDIT: I couldnt open your PDF file..but when I go to Kubotas website and look at the sched for an L2800...it says exactly the same thing my own B3030 manual does..???
