Kubota B2910
Have a B2910 with 92 hours. The dealer performed the 50 hour service for me but I'll be changing the oil & filter at 100 hours. Manual says OK to use either 30W, 10W-30 or 10W-40. Will most likely always be used in temperatures above 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

I'm leaning towards a 10W-40 synthetic.

Any suggestions?

Thanks !!!

I don't have my manual handy, but I THOUGHT it called for 5W-40...

I asked Kubota and they said 15W-40 was fine. I have 570 hours on my B2910 now...and plan on changing to 5W-40 synthetic after my stock of the standard oil runs out...

I doubt it makes much difference though whichever you use if you stick to the manufacturer's change frequency recommendations...

Just one uneducated opoinon... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

5w-40 synthetic is what I'll be using at my 100 hour change with kubota oil filters.

Steve

Thanks for the input. Do you use Kubota filters from the dealer? My dealer charged me $13.20 for a filter at the 50 hour service which I thought was right high.

I never paid that much for a filter for my B2910.

Check the prices at tractorsmart.com. My dealer charges the same prices as they do...I think the most I ever paid for any B2910 filter was less than $ 8...but I don't remember for sure...

My oil filter costs a little over $8 for my 2910. I ran straight 30w oil for two years at my dealer's recommendation (note, I am in Texas). However, I switched to 15w40 and the engine seems to run quieter and smoother. Not very scientific, I know, but that seems to be the case.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up finding a Baldwin filter for around $8.00 and bought the 15W-40 Shell Rotella-T oil that has been recommended by others on this site before.

Enjoy the holiday and remember our TROOPS on Memorial Day!!!

We're picking up our new Kubota L3130 DST in a week or two, to give our old antique G4200 a break from mowing 8 acres. I've neard good things about Rotella and Synthetics, but just don't know which way to go. Aside from weekly bush-hogging of most of the 8 acres, the new tractor will get only occasional use of the FEL and augur in mild climate (Virginia). I hate to pay the high price of synthetics, since I suppose I'll be doing more than just the annual oil changes I got by with on the G4200 for 20 yrs, but if synthetics are best for the engine, I'll do it.

Any thoughts on the smart way to go? This is my first new vehicle of any type and I'd like to do it right.

Gid
