Does anyone have filter #'s (fram, purolator, wix, ect.) for a NH tc33d (2003) I hate to pay NH prices if i don't have to. when i go to the dealer they have 2 different sizes, and 2 different prices. seem like i always end up with the most expensive one even though it is the smallest of the two. thanks for the input, pat

Pat,
Welcome to TBN.
The NH number should be 87415600, if my searching is correct. That crosses over to a Wix 51348 or a NAPA 1348. But do your own research first and then decide if it's worth it to go aftermarket. Also crosses to a Baldwin BT8409.

thanks for the info, Inspector. I also found a STP 3614 would cross to the NH # you gave me which i also had on a new filter.(STP filter $3.19 at autozone). seems like a lot of filters cross reference to a lot of different #'s but sometime indirectly. later, pat

Pat1911 On the TC33D Wix oil filters no. 51056. Fuel filter 33264. I think Wix filters are reputable and have a long history. I am sure with just about everyone's filters you can hear some story of failure which may or may not be true, or the real cause. If you have an Oreilly parts store you can buy them there. I get mine wholesale, or at least with a discount, because I used to be a mechanic for the AHTD here. I just pay for the items and the tax also. In addition, you can now get all of the filters there for the TC33D. You may want to visit the Wix site and cross reference the numbers yourself to shorten time when you go to the parts store. Also NAPA sells Wix filters under their name. Hope this helps. I have used these filters for a long time with good results.

Thanks, T went to wix site and got all my filter #'s. will check with napa when needed.By the way what size tractor is that NH you have? AND HOW DO YOU LIKE IT. I have been thinking about upgrading to a TC40D. my 33 has less than 200 hrs. on it so its kind of hard to justify it, but every now and then i would like to have more loader capacity and a little bigger brush hog.

My tractor is a TC33D that I bought in 2003. The canopy is home spun. There is a race car factory near here and I bought the plastic from them. Same color as the tractor. Almost forgot, I love the tractor. Have done things that I could never have dreamed of doing. It is a powerful little tractor and very comfortable.

Has anyone seen any good reviews about the different brands of oil filters?

I opted to go with the New Holland filters after talking to good friend of mine who was a former NH/Kubota service tech. He had worked on several tractors that came in with premature wear and and failures caused by oil (engine and hydraulic) starvation, each one had an aftermarket/other brand filter installed.

I'm not trying to start any flame war here but he did say his shop noticed a trend when owners switched filter brands.

Do we have any NH dealer/mechanics here that have seen this happen?

Tazz hope we get some input from your question. I would prefer the larger NH filter or its replacement NH #86546618. I have not tried to cross reference this # to wix, will do so later. it is larger in diameter and slightly longer than the 87415600. later, pat

Almost every time questions like this get posted it's because people don't like the prices for NH filters. I suggest

1. Look at the price difference between NH filters and aftermarket ones.
2. Determine how many they'll use in a year.
3. Multiply the Line 1 result times the Line 2 result.
4. Determine if the total from Line 3 is worth it.

For me, it's not.

I spent some time last night looking up oil filter reviews and came to realize that the marketing departments have a big impact on what sells in the stores. Some reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt and others need a bucket (FEL) of salt. :)

Here are a few things I pick up on.

Filter can size may be misleading. It's the size and quality of the media inside that counts. Two filter with equal size cans, when the cans were cut open and the pleated filter paper was unfolded there was a difference in the size of the filter media. Also the quality of the filter media varies.

As far as "oversized filters" that are available, some did not seat properly because of the o-ring size. You also have to ask yourself just how much dirt am I getting in my oil that I need a bigger filter? Will that bigger filter stop smaller dirt particles or just collect more of them before reducing the flow rate? Maybe I'll cut open my next oil filter and see what is inside.

As far as the ability of the filter to catch any contaminates a quick internet search showed that some score much better than others. I was suprised that one VERY popular brand scored LOWEST in all ratings on each review. Again their marketing dept. chosed the brightest colors on a fancy box to sell their product.

The search continues, I'll be back if I find anything good.
