The other day while emptying some used oil into my storage bin I found a copper washer.....after the old memory cells started to click....I had changed the oil on my Kubota a week before. The washer must have come off when I dropped it into the drain pan....I put the plug back in without checking as I had never done this before.
My question....I've run the tractor for a week on and off and there is no oil leaking. I didn't know if without the washer the oil pan might crack due to the tightening pressure? I could use the finger-in-the-drainplug hole for a minute while I slipped the washer on. I will do this is any of you would do the same or just let it go until the next oil change. Thank you for any opinions.

Put your shop vac on the fill hole and the oil loss will be minimal when you remove the plug.

Funny!! I did the same thing on one of my cars, it wasn't leaking so I just waited till the next oil change. I did check for leak a couple of times though.

I would wait until the next oil change assuming no leakage in the meantime. By waiting, you can check to make sure the pan didn't get gouged from tightening the plug. If it did, just smooth out the gouged area as best you can and install a new washer with the plug.

Good advice. My vote is wait until next oil change. My only worry is that I would lose the washer before the next oil change.

I hear 'ya. Get the next filter and tape it to the side ( a filter is bigger and hard to misplace :) )
