Oil coming from breather tube

Sounds like you have some worn rings, pressureizing your crank case and causing oil to blow out of the breather tube.

If you have the time and money rering it and your good for another 20 years if not you can probly run it like that for quite a while longer no harm done.

I'm not familiar with your engine, but on our in-line 6 Cyl Hercules diesel's from the 60's / 70's there is a filter where the vent tube attaches to the valve cover. The filters wearout over time and oil will spray like you are talking about. A new filter stops it.

So, you might want to check and see if yours may have had a filter. The filter material is a woven nylon, like a 3M Scotch Brite scrub pab.

Those are on most older auto engines as well, there not designed to do aything but kind of catch vapor and knock splashes back, its possible that yours just is replaced as it soaks it all up then becomes saturated then flows out.

There should be no pressure in the oil pan, to a degree. Some will obviously be there as its an older engine, but should not feel like a mini-exhaust pipe! An oil pan is like a hurricane of oil when the engine is runninng with the cranks rotating around in it.

Either you have excessive blow by (worn rings, cracked piston) or the crankcase vent system could be clogged. Check the latter first.

i had oil coming from my breather and found out i blew a head gasket but know it smokes bad with fuel smoke.
