I moved with my wife about a year ago with her mom. She has a tractor but the whole time I've been here she has not bothered to change the oil.

I've worked on regular gas cars and changed the oil from them but never messed with a diesel engine. First off where do I buy the oil/oilfilter from we have an O'Reilly and a tractor supply. What oil am I suppose to use for this tractor as well as if it needs synthetic or full synthetic or not. Also is their a specific brand you trust more than everything else, with regular we always used royal purple but I really don't know about tractors.

Now for the oil filter does anyone know the oil number and again what brand would be better. Fram or K&N etc.. that would be better for diesel engine.

This is on a side note, we have a front end loader and for the back a mower and back hoe add-ons and I want to check the hydraulic fluid checked how do I go about doing that and if I need more how to replace it. Thank you in advanced

I must have missed the age, make and model of the tractor.
If you are in northern climate, with winter approaching,Shell Rotella 5w-40 would be my oil choice. Available everywhere, including Wally World. If you are in a moderate climate, Rotella or Chevron 15w-40 would be fine.
Yes, oil for diesel is different than an auto.

The filter. A good NAPA store can cross reference and most TSC type stores can also provide you with the proper filter, if you aren't picky about the brand.

The tractor model we know is a long agribusiness 360 DTC By LG. I've seen it called a Farm Trac not sure about that.
We are guessing (because we didnt buy it) the year is 2004-2005.

Our location is Texas about 1 hour east of Dallas if that helps...

Thanks again

Not sure how familiar you are with different oils, but oil for diesel service has different API service codes than for gas engines. Look for API CI-4; CI-4 PLUS;CH-4;CG-4; and so forth. Do not make the error of using the wrong oil.

Based on the info I found at the TractorData site, it has a Mitsubishi 4 cyl diesel engine, so, pretty much any of the CI-4+/CJ-4 rated lubes would work just fine. Rotella T 5-40 if you like semi-synthetic, or one of the myriad 15-40's if you're a dino fan.

Remember that these things originated in some third world country where they are lucky to get ANY kind of lube change, and they still work for thousands of hours. Odds are great that whatever you put in it will be better than what some Uzbekistan yak farmer would use!! :D

It APPEARS that a very common 20x1.5mm thread WIX 51356 will work, but, you never can tell what they actually stuck on there, so, get the number that's on the filter you have now and cross-reference it at the WIX or Fram sites. A very handy feature of the Fram site is the "Competitors" listing at the bottom of their page - shows a pile of other filters that interchange. ;)
