Oil & Fuel Oil capacity question

After reading a previous post I'm in doubt about the amount of oil that should be in my engine.The post refered to a ym 1600 stating that many Yanmars only hold 4-5 qts.If this is true then I'm overfilling my YM2200 by at least 3 qts.It used to burn so much oil (2.0 qts. per hour) that I would just fill it back up to the top of the crosshatched mark on the dipstick,after rebuilding the engine,I again filled to the same mark , and it took 8 qts.After 12.0 hrs.of full throttle work it hasn't used a drop,does anybody how much it should hold? Man What Ya Think????? If you are sure that you have the right oil level stick for the tractor just fill it to the top of the cross hatch and let it run. And for sure when you change oil again measure how much oil comes out. But reading what you wrote::: you put 8 quarts in and it filled to the marks on the stick.. Sounds like eight quarts. BUT!!!!! The Yanmar 2000 with the 2TR20A-X motor takes 1 gallon (4 qts) of lubricating oil.. AS YOU CAN TELL !!!!! I REALLY DON'T KNOW FOR SURE ABOUT THE YM2200

You can't compare a YM1600 to a YM2200, the YM2200 has an oil pan, the YM1600 does not.
