Here I am sitting at the computer, it is 5.35am Christmas Day and I am at work so I feel that I can be the first to offer seasons greetings.
I started work at 3.pm on Christmas Eve and finish today at 10am and on the occasion of any holiday it can be a very busy night with many people suffering whatever psychological trauma, so far I am feeling a little apprehensive as the phone has not rung once, I have checked it many times and all is fine, lots of emails rolling in from friends and family around the world but nothing re work.
One call just after midnight from the local police wishing me a Merry Christmas, overall a very quiet relaxing night.
Just having breakfast alone and will tackle the 2 hour drive home in about 4 hours in time for lunch with the family who this year have all decided to come over to home for once.
I shall eat, have a glass of wine and do my antisocial trick and fall asleep on the couch and no doubt be presented with photos later on of me in a silly hat, asleep and surrounded by empty bottles.
If only they knew how draining these nights can be but I am fine with them having their fun and only hope that on one of these nights they are not the source of the calls I receive and have to attend.
It can be the happiest time of the year for most but the most traumatic for a few, I do not like tragedy but it is what I do and I trust that I never hear from anyone here for the wrong reasons.
So in conclusion I wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and may it be the best one yet, and if I don't answer, think of the poor old bloke sitting asleep in the silly hat surrounded by bottles, he is quite happy and content to be surrounded by family and good cheer.
