Off set string trimmers for tractors

DR and I think it is Titan both have a rear mounted string trimmer for cutting around post and such. They look generally a like and both use string. I would like experience of those who have either and thoughts on your unit. Also how well does the string hold up. Seems you would be off and on the tractor often. I also do not find clear info on the reach from the pto shaft on to the far cutting area, may be over looking but have looked at each more than once for that info.

I don't have one but I do have a belt driven push trimmer that uses .155 spiral string. It holds up pretty good if you don't get into heavy brush or wire fence. How well the string holds up will depend on how much abuse you subject it to. The heavy string will also do some damage to posts and trees. I can knock a hole in the vinyl corner molding on my house with it.

A better choice is probably the type with mini brush type blades and a rubber edged wheel. It will also cause less damage to the fence posts. I don't have nor have I used one of these but it looks to be a superior design for fence mowing.

I think Swisher made a unit with its own engine pulled with a garden tractor too.

They do but would not work for my need, cutting around pond and ditch banks. Will not have ground for the wheel to be on so cutter must be either supported by tractor wheel away for the cutting end.
