I don't use my trailer during a 5 month stretch during winter. I have Load Rating E tires that I run at 80 psi. Should I decrease the pressure during the off season to help lengthen the life of the tire?

Thanks,

Several tire website recommend if storing tires while on the rim they should be inflated to 50% of recommended pressure. They should also be off the ground (I assume so they don't develop flat spots). If they are outside I would think they should be covered to protect from the suns UV light to prevent sidewall checking. None of the sites I looked at mentioned anything about them being attached to a vehicle just that they are on rims.

The best thing you can do for any tire that sits is getting the vehicle they are on jacked up. I put 2 of my trailers on jack stands. My other trailer is used bi weekly at a minimum.

Mine all live in barns but tire covers are the next best thing.

I remove my trailer tires and store them inside the house for the winter. I have over 50 tires on everything from wheelbarrows to trucks, when not in service jack'em up. Never heard of reducing the air pressure.

Never heard of decreasing pressure. I would think that would help cause flat spots. Jack the trailer up or at least cover the tires to protect from UV. Take the trailer for a spin every month if you can. That might help.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Will act upon all of them except for the one about bring tires into the house. I can tell you right now that won't float with my wife, so I am not even going to ask.
