On a shopping trip to Oneonta this week, I drove by several tractor dealers, and I always take a few seconds to observe what they have on their lots. It's been years since I have seen so many tractors, and honestly I don't know if I ever have seen this many CUTs on these lots in all the years I have driven past them.
This time of year can't be a big selling time in upstate NY, and if inventory is this way all over the place, this might be the time to really get serious for anyone looking for a new tractor. I would think dealers would be in a state of near panic to sell right now, I should have taken pictures but didn't think of it. The number of tractors on the lot of the MF dealer was easily more than I have ever seen there. The NH dealer was very well stocked, as was the Deere dealer. Only the Kubota dealer looked maybe just a little more than what's usually on the lot. There are a couple of other much smaller dealers or satellites, not sure which, in Oneonta, and they had more tractors than I have ever observed as well, though in in their case it was only a matter of 8-12 or so.
I would certainly think this would be a time you might be able to get a better deal than has been around the past couple years when tractors on these lots were much fewer.

Would think, but I sure wouldn't count on it. Our New Holland dealer had a decent inventory all along, but does have more now.

Just drove from Eastern PA about 450 miles to southern Ohio. Passed green, orange & blue dealers in MD, West Virginia and Ohio a Mahindra dealer, too. All were chock full of new smaller tractors. Big AG stuff still looked a little thin.

Interesting. The MF dealer seemed to have a lot of implements on the lot. The Deere and Kubota dealers don't have the hillside display area of the MF dealer, so I have no ideal what they have for implements.

This area used to be a big farming area, but not so much now. But even in the old days, the farms were relatively small, mostly dairies with under 100 cows, and some hay and corn for them. The farms that remain probably have a huge choice of used tractors in the 60-90 hp range to choose from, and they always seem to have a few smaller tractors around as well.
