I've got a 1997 Ford F Super Duty bucket truck. Same body style as all the '92 - '96 trucks. The other day I crunched the mirror into a utility pole while backing up to my trailer on a city street. With the big bracket it caved the door in pretty good also.
I'm no body man and don't have time to grind/bondo/sand or replace the door skin. Been poking around online for a rust free complete door. Not having a ton of luck and a lot of the places I inquire are simply brokers. They find a part and want a cut of the money to direct you to it. They also ring the damned phone off the hook. Glad there's an option to block callers on the iPhone! I thought I had a couple of promising leads from Arizona & Alabama but they just don't want to listen to what I have to say about a mirror.
Has anyone used any of the salvage yards that ship parts nationwide with any success?

Can't say I have direct experience, but I see good prices on www.car-part.com. is this what you are referring to?

I'll check it out Mike. There are several similar sites but sometimes it's hard to distinguish which ones actually stock parts and which ones simply reply to you and tell you that they've located your part someplace in the great beyond of the internet.

Looks like about $180 plus shipping. But I don't really want to sign up for an account there. I'm pretty much looking for a bolt on, complete door. If I've got to scuff it up and shoot some flat white on it I will.
That way I've still got my current door for extra parts like trim/window mech/door handles, etc.

Just found a complete one, supposed to be in good shape for $100 about an hour's drive from me. Hopefully that works out instead of dealing with all these internet yards.
Update: Door purchased for $100. It was basically a shell with a window crank mechanism in it, but I took the old door with me and the guy swapped in my glass, latch mechanism, door handle, etc. It was part of the deal, but it took a little while so I gave him an extra $20. Figured I'd stay on his good side, he may have some more old Ford parts that I'll need someday.
Got it home and bolted it on. Working just fine.

Now that the new door is installed, the old tripod mount mirrors will soon be history. Absolutely no give or swivel to them. If there had been, I may not have trashed the old one against a pole.
Just ordered a set of these: Jr. West Coast Mirror Kit - Big Rig World. Not a bad price there. I found other sites where they were nearly $100 each.

Glad you found a door, I've had good luck on craigslist. i also try to keep a parts truck on hand (i love these OBS fords). personally i love the big 3pt mirrors the best. also some of the repo aftermarket parts sold by LMC are not the same, quality or thickness as the OEM ones

It was a bit of a drive, but worth it in the end. Probably saved myself a couple hundred dollars. He also mentioned that he had some other old front end parts like lights, etc. so I'll save his number in case any other unfortunate incidents happen.
