Kioti NX5510
Hello folks,

I just bought a brand new NX5510 with HST. I have approximately 6 hours on the tractor and have noticed the "cal' light and "speed limit switch" keep flashing. I cannot use my "linked pedal" and the response with the transmission is very slow.. I need some help from you experts who have experienced this before. Do I need to calibrate something or is something else possibly going on with the tractor?

I really appreciate all your help,

Caleb

My NX4510 has a knob for quicker response for the HST to work faster. There is a calibration switch on the panel for the HST response. See page 4-16 of your owners manual. It says for service only. I recall hitting mine when my light was blinking after I tried the linked pedal. My tractor had about 15 hours on it. The light has not blinked since and the linked pedal works fine now.

Thanks Jim..
Dealer tried to "calibrate" today. Nothing changed. Very frustrating with a brand new machine.

I had hoped it would have worked for you also. What do they plan on doing now for you? Maybe a ECM reprogramming?

Check for any foreign object or the loader hoses interfering with the travel of the HST pedals. I had to make a hose loom to keep the hoses out of the HST pedals.

Also check that the transmission gear selector plug isn't loose at the connector.

It coming apart all but stopped me in my tracks.

Hey Eric, I checked the wires and loader hoses last night per your recommendation. No luck. I emailed the dealer and will call them this morning. This is like having a brand new toy and you can't take it out of the box to play with it. Thanks for your help guys. Please keep the suggestions coming.

Thanks again.

Not to worry too much; you'll get this bug worked out with your dealer and be on your way. Unfortunately it seems the final Tier IV tractors have some issues that once worked out allow the tractor to function properly. Otherwise I'm confident you will like your Kioti and enjoy working it hard over many years of service.

And, BTW, welcome to TBN!

Hey Coyote, and thanks. My wife spoke with the dealer today and tried to "recalibrate" again. No luck.... The dealership is picking up the tractor in a few days to try and get it lined out. I will keep you guys updated. Thanks again for all your help.

Your welcome. It probably needs a ECM flash to update its software, or something similar. These type of headaches are mostly about complying with recent EPA emissions laws that restrict the tractor manufacturers regarding how particulates are put into the airstream. It has the downside of complicating systems that were running pretty flawlessly prior to final Tier IV coming into play, like with your model and year of tractor. Kioti, like all other manufacturers of tractors struggles to get it right out of the box, but seems to be doing a fairly good job of patching the problems, when they occur, in the 'field'.
Once the new to market bugs are worked out I suspect that these tractors will provide numerous years of relatively trouble free use as have prior year's models.
I understand your frustration with the situation and if it's any help, it's not just tractors that suffer most recent 'technology' faults.
IMHO, just about everything I buy these days needs some sort of tweak out of the box. Doesn't matter what the category is; refrigerators, ride mowers, laptops, TV's, garbage disposals, etc. They all seem to be made as cheaply as possible and we, the end user always gets stuck with having to call in, send in, or throw out the junk produced by manufacturers who cut as many corners as possible in the name of global competition, etc.
I find one of the most frustrating aspects is I have to waste my time following through to get a product that actually works, after having spent good money to buy something that should already work when purchased.
Two examples; recently replaced under warranty garbage disposal, was just recalled for possibility of shrapnel being thrown out of machine and injuring users! What?! When I called in the serial number they asked if I had had any problems with the unit?! I told them it's under a recall, you, (manufacturer) should have worried about that when you were designing/ manufacturing/ selling the product; not after the fact when they're out in the field.
Brand new Husky ALD mower with 2 transaxles, one leaked like a sieve from the factory. Located a huge glob of white silicone at the axle shaft; obviously it was leaking at the factory; their QC decision was to glob it and send it out and let it get dealt with under warranty. YIKES!:confused2:
Sorry if this seems like a thread hijack; I'm just trying to be supportive by giving other examples of where things are more poorly thought out than the OP's situation across the board of consumer goods; and where it wastes our time as consumers.
Anyway, hope it helps, you're certainly not alone.....

With 6 hours on it, tell them to replace it with one that works, get it fixed within a week, or take it back and issue a refund. Let them choose and make it happen.

I took one car back in a similar circumstance and after I described what would happen in local advertising if they didn't make it right with one of my options, they agreed. I didn't prefer any option over another. All I wanted was a working car or my money back. I got a working car and never mentioned it again to the dealer or anyone else. If you make that deal, then stick with it and resist the temptaion to spread the issue. That won't win you any friends when it gets out anyway, and it will if you talk about it.

Good luck!
