Don't get me wrong, I'm all about the NRA and what it stands for, but I'll tell ya, I'm getting sick and tired of being continuously solicited by the NRA for contributions!

I am a member, but didn't know that becoming a member would subject me to constant financial harassment from the organization. I say "harassment" because that's what it seems to be. In the beginning, I was polite with the solicitors, now I just hang up:mad:

I can understand a call or two wanting money, but geesh, I get one a day. Someone needs to get a clue and stop calling...remove my number from the database.

I have given to them before. I get mail, email and phone calls all the time because of it. Many times I have gone out of my way to support the mission. I have emailed congressmen, emailed senators, emailed the U.N. president and other rep's of the United Nations. I have sent postcards (my nickel on the postage) blah, blah, blah...

I stand for everything the NRA believes in, but give me a break already!!!!!!!!!

Just ranting...does anyone else get these various solicitations as frequently as I do?

You betcha, although they did give up (after a while) on the phone calls but I still get the mailings. Seems like a lot of money spent that could be better directed. I'll support as I see fit, they don't need to preach to the choir.

In fact I think I wrote them that at one point but it didn't make a dent.

Only ones worse may be the blood bank!

The best way I've found to get rid of telemarketing calls is to get a personal voicemail number. I have one from uReach that I also use as a fax and email box. When I register for credit cards or organizations I give them this number which forwards straight to voicemail. If they have something important to tell me they'll leave a message, if not they don't. Of course this doesn't stop the mail offers for NRA penknives and the like but there's enough junk mail it doesn't make up a huge percentage.

I'm a member.. so is my wife. Have been for? 15-16 ys, I get the mailings, and i signed up for the email notifications.. but ( knock on wood ) have never rcvd a single phone call. We screen all our home calls anyway.. but never had one from the NRA.

As another poster said.. i support the nra with donations as i see fit.. not just because they mail me an envelope.

In the end.. their organization runs most 'similar' to what my gun views are ( though not 100% ).. with the way politics are ( please no political discussion.. or take to PM with them/me.. etc.. ).. I'm comfortable with a decent level of financial support to them.. from my wallet.. so that they will help 'protect' the issues I deem important.. etc. As part and parcel.. i expect some level of 'strings attached' to come with their political lobbying operations.. IE.. some contacts via mail.. and a hand in my pocket now and then. So far.. i feel, ( for me personally ).. this is an acceptable trade off.. I like my guns and gun rights.. and don't mind 'paying' to keep them the way i like em' (wink).

NRA, AARP and the like all do that. They really don't seem to care about their members, just how much they can extract from them. I dumped AARP after one year because of this nonsense. I never saw any benefits from them anyway.

However, I am a Life Member of NRA, and I wasn't about to resign after paying a substantial sum for that membership. I found an alternative. I called them up and said I was going world travelling and could not deal with their mailings. They said OK and put me on some kind of do not mail list. That was ten years ago.

I don't get anything from them anymore, including the magazine, which wasn't worth the constant sales pitches anyway. But if I ever do want to "get involved," all it would take is a phone call.

I am not receiving requests for donations. I get the NRA magazine. I have been a lifetime member for many years, maybe that's why they don't solicit?

They sure solicited the dickens out of me, and I never gave them a cent beyond the membership fee, and that was back in the 70's. I know what happens once you give a soliciter -- any soliciter -- money. It's not pretty.

I won't get into a political discussion in the open forum.. however i consider whatever money i do send to the NRA to be an investment inthe continuance of my gun rights. There are too many politicians that want my guns and rights to set back and not have a lobby group between me and them...

I was a member for years. I left because I got tired of the begging for $$$.
