Sherman farm up here in Conway, NH has made the coolest corn maze I have ever seen. It was designed to represent the "Old man in the mountain" which was a state icon until it fell a few years ago. We are going up to check it out today, looks like fun. Amazing what they can do.

Very impressive. Do you have any idea how they make it? I'm guessing that they must draw it out before they plant the corn. I'm just not sure if they actually plant corn seed where they don't want it, spray that area so it never grows, or have the ground marked so they can cut down the corn where they want it. One day I'd love to design and grow my own maze. I just think they are really cool.

One place I've been told about uses GPS and computer programmed onboard navigation to cut the maze.

That is pretty darn cool. It's funny that a radio station is the sponsor since you can't put a picture of the maze on the radio.;)

Kinda 'Corny', Huh? Maybe there is a GPS hook-up channeled through the radio station to help wayward/lost mazer's find their way out.

Breaking News! New reality TV show: 'Survivormaze"

Eight acres. Cute. There's a fifteen-acre maze just up the Interstate from here. Oh, and they give every group a flag on a pole (taller than the corn), and if you get lost, you just wave it around and yell, and someone who knows the maze comes & gets ya. Oh, and they also include this assurance:

Don't worry, we find all visitors by mid-November when we combine the maze!

I went through one at my Alma Mater (Purdue University) a few years back. Talked to the guys about the set up. It's all computer generated then converted into GPS coordinates/paths. They have to mow the corn to establish the trails. He said they skipped a couple of weeks due to weather and vacation and it all grew back! Basically had to start over.

The first one I remember you could see the normal corn rows, more recently it seems like they plant in a couple of directions to avoid the row effect. I suspect they still harvest the field at the end of the maze (maize?) season.

My mom was up for a visit a week ago and we all went through one. Fun stuff.
