I just checked my Hotmail in-box, which I rarely view --and I found a notice from TBN saying one of the threads I had started here had been considered political in nature and therefore removed. I was also given the information that if I wanted the thread moved to "Friendly Politics" I could reply to the email.

Now, the message sent here from TBN was dated back in JULY...so I don't recall the thread I started back then. However, I do recall having a thread removed RECENTLY (perhaps a month ago) and I received no notification via PM, and I found no email from TBN about that one today. When I noticed the thread had been removed, I inquired of Bird and he told me the recent one (about a lottery winner in Michigan collecting public assistance) had been removed because it was political in nature.

It appears there is no uniformity here to notify members that a thread has been removed...WHY can't they be informed via PM here instead of by email? And why was I never notified that my more recent thread had been removed?

It's possible the latest notification went into your Hotmail spam/junk folder, rather then the in-box.

I get TBN messages (administrators and moderators only) sent to my regular e-mail. I never get spam related to TBN, so it's pretty safe. If you don't check Hotmail often, you might consider changing your notification e-mail address.

Wish we could get rid of some of the trolls--both single posters and those who can string the gang along for a while.

I think what Bill means is all he has is Hotmail but he still doesn't check it often. Could be wrong however.

If you STARTED a thread that was taken down for any reason, you are usually sent a "canned" template reason by whomever took it down. I say usually, as sometimes humans err. It does happen from time to time.

However, if you PARTICIPATED in a thread that was taken down and were not the originator who started that thread, you most likely will not be notified. There are just too many people to notify all of them.

As to WHY the PM system is not used is probably due to this....

When person 'A' is sent a PM by a person 'B', person A tends to "blame" person B for performing the act of moderation in question. Sometimes person A starts to think person B has a grudge against them and then starts replying with nasty PMs back to person B or starts making public comments about person B in the forums. It has happened in the past and was quite unpleasant. Once the owners of TBN switched from using the PM system to make those notifications and added templates for specifics (like politics, unauthorized advertising, etc...) everything is more consistent in the notifications sent and it directs the attention to the operators of TBN and not any one specific staff member or moderator. Since then, complaints from TBN members about moderation operations have dropped significantly and the majority of moderation time is spent on these crummy spammers, not on TBN members.

Hope that explains it. If not, you can always send a PM to Muhammad, the owner of TBN. ;)

You are correct....I rarely check Hotmail, but I do have other email adresses. Just don't understand why thread removal msgs. cannot be sent via PM? I choose not to list my primary email address here or on other websites.

OOOPS...Mossroad's post here arrived just as I was composing this one....thanks for clarification.

It's because you are a wicked, mean and nasty person. You are destined to be deleted. :D:D:D
