Notice JD FEL has a sticker that says “loader\"

Every time I see that I chuckle and think darn I woulda never known. I picture some “think tank” sitting around asking what might motivate someone to buy a JD.... I KNOW let’s put a sticker on the FEL loader that says “loader!"

Can you imagine if it said FEL, whooa man!

Am I the only one that notices this stuff? Maybe it’s supposed to be subliminal.

Might shed some light if you would say where the 'loader' sticker was. And how is it to motivate someone to buy a JD? Is there a sour grape here somewhere? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Looking further for the 'sticker' you might refer to here, I see the loaders have the sticker that has a model number, like 400CX, followed by the name 'loader'. If that is what is getting you excited, I suspect it is to clarify that the number 400CX refers to the loader and not the tractor. I can see some thinking that number be the tractor model, and not the loader model, if not familiar as you are with tractors. Plus often the model number of the tractor cannot be seen when the loader is on the tractor. The only number visible is thus the loader model number. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Which Deere tractor and loader do you have?

Maybe without the label somebody might try to use it to mow their lawn or something?? Makes me wonder why they would stop with the loader? They could label the wheel as "WHEEL", or the hood as "HOOD".

He is trying to show how silly it is to put a sticker on a loader that says that it is a "Loader". Like someone would think that it is something else. It would be as silly as putting a sticker on every car that says "Car".

It seems plausible that the loader designation was added to clarify that the tractor was not a 300CX or similar. From most angles, the loader covers the model number on my tractor (3520), possibly triggering a decision by JD to clarify what is what.

I also fail to see any humor in this. if this label is barcoded, it might be for inventory maintenance.

Also, the labels are probably printed somewhere far away from the actual manufacter/assembly of these loaders. If there is a barcode (on the label), that code by itself would mean nothing to the person applying it to the loader.

Good point Roy,

In all likelihood the sticker is for faster inventory tracking & management, like Fed Ex, UPS, mail order companies, or the local supermarket... I doubt the sticker is intended for the consumer marketing (it would be a lot prettier if that was the case)--more the distributors & dealers as a reporting mechanism.... and a bigger sticker is easier for them to find, so pack all information you can on it... just in case not everyone uses the same tracking system for management.

It might sound funny but I'm sure it serves a practical reason. Because most people would confuse the Loader Model Number with the Tractor Model Number.

I've heard many people in the past talk to me about tractors and I would ask them what model it was, and they would say it is a 420, or 430, or 460. Those are obviously the Loader Model numbers and not the Tractor. It was obvious to me, but it obviously wasn't obvious to them.

So yes, I see the point in putting the word loader on it. Do you really think they would have done this if they didn't think there was a logical reason behind it?

Not sour grapes at all, I’ve been looking at various models and noticed that. I have seen the sticker just below the loader number that says “loader” and thought that’s silly and wondered if it a marketing ploy. I envisioned their thinking was similar to 4X4 (or whatever pointless terms you care to add) on trucks which I find equally ridiculous. Also was thinking similar to Jeep73, why not label “tire” “wheel” or better yet “ROPS” that one should be a big seller! HA! I find it equally odd that in advertisements many waste lineage to add ROPS as if it is unique when it’s already a given.

I hadn’t considered someone confusing it with tractor model number but that is a good point. Regardless it still seems a bit humorous to me.
