Hello experts I've got a nortrac/yuchai 30 HP rubber track dozer and I'm looking for the proper track adjustment procedure. I've got the owners manual but it only gives steel track procedure and spec. Any info would greatly appreciated

Same instructions apply. I have rubber tracks also. Do you have one or two top carrier rollers?

Hello bob It's been a couple days since I looked at it but I believe there is only 1 set of top rollers. FYI the feller I bought it from said to keep them tight and they are pretty much banjo string tight but I've rolled one off already after just 30 minutes of trail building. I've been reading some of the posts and there wasn't any rocks or sticks in the area I was working so I'm thinking it has to do with the track tightness but I'm looking for reassurance b4 I just start turning bolts and crossing fingers

If you bought it used then I suggest you check the alignment of the swing frames with the sprockets. Many first time owners of these machines have a tendency to think they are D9 Cats. They are not. Main reasons for throwing a track where sticks and stones are not involved are making tight turns under power and turning on steep slopes (also dozing sideways on slopes). There are other reasons too.

That makes sense bob I was on a slight slope and dozing away cutting in trail and downhill track came off front sprocket in towards the dozer so it was lodged between sprocket and blade trunion. That was fun to get back on is the alignment obvious or rocket science to check

FYI: Big track wheel on front is called an idler, rear track wheel is the sprocket. Avoids confusion.
Cutting a bench in a hillside is pretty easy work, but it takes some time with these machines - done quite a bit of it. Just make sure the blade is angled down and into the slope. The dozer will always be relatively level. I have a grade and bank indicator under the ROPS, it's a great guide.

Checking the swing frame alignment is the same as "X"-ing a car or truck chassis to see if it's tracking true. For parallel check, mesure the distance between the front and rear insides of the swing frames. This will tell you if it's "toed out" and in need of pivot shaft straightening (a sign that it's been badly abused).

Also make sure your tracks have equal tension - measure from the idler zerk fitting to the center of the sprocket. They should be within 1/2" +or- 1/4".

It should be noted that these rubber tracks are made up of embedded steel links with numerous steel cables.
