I think most of us with non brand name quick hitches have the HF one. I do as little business as possible with Northern because of the attitude of the employees at the local store. My HF has been tough as an anvil. There are a number of threads that will show up in a search. Lot of opinion both ways on the units, may be worth the time to read a bit to make sure you want one. Also look at Pats system, a lot of folks here have his system and love it. As for the Northern unit, most likely made by the same people that make the HF one.

If you were local to me I'd give you the HF version. You're right that it's as much as identical to the Northern version except maybe for the color so if you decide to go with one save yourself the price difference.

I bought a HF one on sale for $39. It works as advertised and is great if all of your implements use identical pin spacing and size. Unfortunately for me my brushhog pins are spaced just narrow enough to prevent using that hitch so I replaced it in favor of a setup that allows me to adjust the spacing between my lifting arms\pins ala Pat's system.

Looking at both the NorTrac and HF manuals, they have similiar pictures. Both say they are made in China so I'm guessing they are the same but without seeing the NorTrac one in person, I can't say for sure.

I have the HF one and it works great. I use it for everything except my blox blade that my father in-law had welded a few times before he gave it to me. So I need to do some modifications to it to in order for it to work with the hook on the Quick Hitch. So for the time being I just use the adapter bracket instead of the hook.

It looks like the price has gone up on the HF 27.5" version as the website has it listed at $129.99 now. Normally you can find it on sale for less than $100.

I was doing the what to do thing a few months ago. I got the "Pats" system because i felt the one your looking at was not flexible enough. Pats works great for me an I am very satisfied with it.

x2 on Pat's (PEC system). I had the rigid HF unit years ago, back when they only cost $45. Didn't fit some of my implements, worked poorly on others. Bought a set of flexible toplink brackets for that, and it improved the latter problem. But the more implements I bought over the years, the fewer would would fit. I ended up buying PEC for both my tractors and sold the HF unit. No regrets.

Northern by the way, also sells an economy version of the PEC system.
