I'm new to the world of quick hitches so I just want to confirm that I'm thinking about this the correct way. I bought a Nortrac QH1N from Northern Tool. The whole appeal of this hitch is that it's supposed to be set up for category 1 with no bushings required.
I think when they redesigned it they only changed the width of the slot cut in the hooks for the lower links. The slot width is 7/8 inch, but vertical distance from slot bottom to latch is 1.5 inches. So it's category 1 in the horizontal direction, but category 3 in the vertical. Seems unacceptable to me?
The other thing to note is that because the tractor side face of the slot isn't flush with the vertical member, the implement pins will want to sit on the "ledge" above the slot. I could probably get over that gripe though.
