I've been researching tillers for my Kubota B7610HSD. The Landpride and some of the others are a bit pricey. I've read a lot of good feedback on the King Kutter and I've tentatively decided to go with the KK II 48". I like what I hear about the heavy duty build and the gear drive, slip clutch, etc.

Can't find one in Eastern Massachusetts so I've been toying with ordering one from Northern Tool. Anyone have any experience in purchasing online from NT?

There's a TSC in Coventry, RI, that I'm planning on calling today to see if they stock the KK II.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

baddaddy-

My bet would be on TSC. You can look over their stock, pick out the tiller and know exactly what you're getting. My experience with TSC is that they beat NT on price and if you bring a trailer you can eliminate shipping costs entirely. Also, the skivvy on this board is that the store managers will often knock 10% off if you ask before you buy.

Make sure you have gear oil and grease. My KKII was without lube when I picked it up.

Good luck,

Jim

How far to the "right" are you? I was at the TSC in Southwick Ma this weekend and they had a 4' and 5' in their yard.

Thanks for the feedback guys. That's helpful. I think I will contact a couple of the TSC stores today and take a drive. I'm in Norwell, Ma, so I'm not really close to any of them, but I'd rather drive and pick one up given that if I purchase from NT, I'm likely driving to a shipping company to have a pallet loaded into my truck.

Thanks for the help.

I grabbed the 48" they had in Merrimack, NH last night. The store manager there is Jason, he knows his stuff. I asked him about a 10% discount, no problem. I talked with the TSC in Milford, NH yesterday, guy on the phone was dumber than cow manure. I have spoken with Cindy in Tilton, NH, she know's what's going on as well.

The KK II 48" weighs about 600 pounds, so it might be easier to go for a ride than trying to get one shipped. Many trucking companies charge extra for a lift gate and for going into neighborhoods rather than businesses.

The only thing that is scareing me now is the whole cutting of the PTO shaft...

Good luck with your search!

Thanks Mike. I spoke w/Cindy @ Tilton and she quoted me 1449. I'm on hold for Merrimack. What did they get you for?

Alright. I just ordered the 48" KK II from TSC in Tilton. Cindy and Chip couldn't be more helpful. Took a credit card purchase of $1,449 over the phone and I'll drive the 100 miles and pick it up when it comes in. No shipping or tax. Pretty good deal IMHO.

Thanks for all the great advice on tillers on this site. I was going down the safe path to pay almost $2500 for a landpride. Another thing that got me to the KK was sites like brokentractor.com, where you can readily buy parts. I know with the rocks I'm going to hit that I'll need some new tines.

For the King Kutter II, 48 inch, with SKU #2173045, regular price was $1449.00. Jason, the store manager (in Merrimack, NH) sold me one for $1304.10.

You might want to ask Cindy about a 10% discount. Feel free to tell her what Jason did for me. My slip says that I was there on 3-24-09 @ 5:14 PM.

It's worth a try, it'll more than pay for your gas and you you taking me out for lunch for telling you all this stuff :)

I took the last one that Merrimack had. They still had a 60" & a 72".

I was telling Jason about this board. Be careful when you unload that puppy, it's heavy!!! My little Massy worked hard, but it's all in the rigging, my Wife didn't think it could be done....I showed her what a tractor and good rigging can do!!
