non starting Mahindra 4510

I was operating my 4510 and stopped it. Would not start soon later. It just clicked a bit like a dead battery. As the battery was about 6 years old I got a new one. Installed it and it would still not start. The ground and connections are clean. When the key is on part of the time the display lights on the dash will light up, sometimes not. When they are on the lights etc. will work, when the display lights do not come on then there is no power to the lights. Even when the display lights are on it will not crank at all. As soon as I try to start it with the key the display lights go off.
When the dash display lights are on they are dim, sometimes they will brighten up a bit. I have tried jumping it and put the cable to a good ground on the frame with no success.
Since a new ignition switch is cheap I got one ordered thinking that could be a source to the problem. Any suggestions. Without the ability to start it I cannot bring it into the shop and with the harvest season it would be there for awhile I am sure. Thanks

Sounds like you have a bad connection some were. It very well could be on the "hot" positive side of things. If ground is checking out ok, my check were the positive ties into the starter. I have had the positive connection to the starter foul me up on both pick-ups and tractors. The other item, but because it is messing with the lights, I kind of doubt it maybe the fuel solenoid. I would almost bet on a bad connection somewhere, the problem is finding it.

Check our ground where it is bolted to the tractor it may have lost contact there

When you check your connections, check the actual battery cables are good.
Other poster's have found that a cable with an internal fault to be the problem , acting in a similar manner that you describe.
