This winter I am pulling up the floor on my BX to do some other repairs (replacing fuel tank being one) figured his is a good time to eliminate the existing floor mat as it is getting worn. Several posts in the past have mentioned doing this.

I have been investigating various products. The commercial guys doing pickup bed liners are not interested, too small a project and want a premium pice. Most of the DIY products have bad reviews. Anybody out there in TBN land know of a tried and true product they are happy with?

Yes - Ron. I purchased and used the "bed liner" product from LineX here in Spokane. The key, I was told, preparation, preparation, preparation. To get good adhesion the paint must be well sanded. Then use a tack cloth to remove the paint dust. It has to be warm wx and relatively low humidity( whatever that means ). I've even used it on the four wood steps coming up to my entryway. It adheres well to the wood but still ices over in the winter.

I've used it UNDER the rubber floor mat on my M6040. Kind of like a heavy duty paint. It's been there four years. As expected - being under the floor mats it has shown no wear.

The main point - it has adhered well to the sanded paint.

I was also shocked at what they wanted to do the bed of our mule. We used Rustoleums two part bed liner in the bed. It still is holding up excellent after 3 years of heavy use. Rock, dirt and shoveling have not damaged it a bit.
Like others have said prep is the key.

Thanks Alan, I was wondering about the Rustoleum product. I will check it out some more.

I just wonder. The "cost" of having a small part/area done must, obviously, include the setup costs. Which could be a fairly standard cost - large job or small job. That's the reason I decided to DIY. AlanW - is the Rustoleum a Urethane type product? Being two part - like Part A mixed with Part B.

The nice thing - the floor mat area is relatively small and easy to get to. So if one product doesn't hold up so well you can just sand the area again and try a second product.

The bed of my new Taco Wagon has factory spray in LineX. My only complain on this - the surface texture is so rough. It hurts my knees when I kneel on it. Like bare knee kneeling down on a gravel driveway. Gotta admit though - nothing slides very much on this surface.

It appears to be a two part epoxy coating with ground rubber added. As you can see it holds up well. Even the pitch fork hasnt scratched it yet. I have planned on doin my tractor steps with whats left. Someday.

When I bought my L3700SU a number of years ago, I pulled off the floor boards and step, brought them to the Linex shop and they were all done the next day. I think I thought was in the 150.00 range and still looks like the day it was done. Your area may have a few different shops that do spray in bed liners..I would definitely pursue one of them..pay a little more now..or pay for it again later....02

You can get a one quart "Herculiner" kit at Lowe's for $24.95.
Lowe's item # 319165.
I was not willing to pay $265 to replace the rubber mat on my Ford 1920.
I used "Herculiner".
Similar to Linex, and in small affordable quantity.
Have had it in place for 3 years, and am VERY happy with it.
