This is my second season using my 60" mower deck on my Gc2610. The guage wheels seem to rattle like crazy. They are well greased. My first season last year they seemed to be quiet. I do not recall any noise. Am I going nuts or is this normal . I mow with the wheels making contact and set at the 3.5" height. My wife hears the rattle from across the yard. The minute I raise the deck it stops.

I'm not familiar with your particular deck, but on my Kubota, the recommended setting for the wheels is 1/2 inch off the turf. That way, scalping is prevented when uneven ground is encountered.
Im my mind, if the wheels are in full contact, and your lawn is not quite as smooth as your living room carpet, the noise is likely coming from the vertical (adjustable) linkage that the guage wheel is attached to.
Maybe you had the wheels a tad higher last summer ?

I will give that a try. I think my Massey manual says to engage the wheels with the ground. Any others out there using the 60" MMM?

Mine are on the ground, the only noise I get is when I go over uneven ground and the deck follows the contour. Almost like a click when it goes up and then back down.

Maybe that is the problem. The ground got worse over the winter.

When I set my MMM up I recall the manual stating to set the anti-scalp wheels to be just above the ground. They are only there when the mower needs to rise and follow the ground surface. The mower should be suspended when mowing.

The anti scalp wheels are the 3 rollers on the inboard side of the deck and should be above the ground. The gauge wheels are the 4 outer wheels and they should be on the ground to get a level cut and to follow the contour of the ground. If they are suspended just above the ground they will be noisy.

Mine rattles like crazy with the deck suspended off the ground also. It's the shafts that hold the front guage wheels on the deck. I haven't investigated it, but I would say that the shafts are wearing slightly, causing the rattle. Although it could be the holes on the deck becoming enlarged.

The front wheels spin in circles almost continuously when mowing, something will wear somewhere.

When you are mowing why are the gauge wheels not on the ground? Is the height adjustment knob below the seat not set low enough? it should be set to allow the deck to run on the gauge wheels that is what the wheels are for.
