I mentioned in my intro to the group that my tractor was not running well. (Ran fine for about 15 minutes, then bogged down under load and would not recover; would not pull any rpm's and idle would shake violently. Did not notice excess smoke of any color. It quickly got to the point that it would barely pull itself forward.
Thanks to the excellent suggestions here I narrowed my trouble shooting down to fuel delivery and return. I drained the diesel tank (it was clear and only had one little bit of waxy stuff about the size of a nickle in it) and decided to replace all the return fuel lines. I found a crimp in the main fuel return line (see picture ....it doesn't look as bad in the pic as it does in person). I also found about half a fuel filter full of something that looks like mud (see second picture)......not sure what it is, I thought water would be clear and just show as another layer of liquid. The guy I bought the tractor from told me he changed the fuel filter two weeks ago. He seemed like a genuinely honest and sincere man so I have not reason to doubt him.
So, drained fuel tank and put in fresh fuel, rerouted fuel return lines to eliminate crimp, put in new fuel filter, bleed system and started my baby up. She shook for a minutes and seem to struggle to get some RPMS but then she found her center and pulled a solid 2950 rpm. I did a little loader work and deliberately bogged her down and the minute I let off, she came right back (would not do that before).
Needless to say, I'm a happy camper right now.
