No Spark on Leaf Blower. Need ideas. Please.

Husqvarna 125B Leaf Blower. When turning with cordless drill & plug out and grounded against fins, cannot get visible spark. What am I missing?

3 different coil packs (2 brand new). 3 different plugs. Continuity check on kill wires and switch (plus tried w/o kill switch wiring).

Flywheel magnets are strong. Set coil pickup distance with business card (sb 0.010).

I'm at a loss. I thought this ignition system was so primitive that even I couldn't screw it up but I'm apparantly missing something. Ideas?

First suggestion is using your hand/fingers rather than a spark plug to test for fire...
Have coils tested...
Set clearances to mfg. specs...

Air gap set to 0.010 per spec. Nothing changed. Never a spark.

Buttoned it back up to get off the bench. Just for a lark followed starting procedure...

... and it fired up.

Sure glad I don't try to make a living at troubleshooting. Better ground when torqued into head? Better able to twist down wire cap when plug screwed down? Pull start more RPM than drill?

Originally wouldn't fire with new China carb -- always flooded. So that's when I bought the coil.

Sometimes lucky is better than smart.

Spark plug wires or socket?

I went round and round with my mom's weed eater a few years ago. Couldn't get it up to high rpms. Put new spark plug in it. -Nope. Try adjusting carb setting. -Nope. Compression was good. I changed fuel lines. -Nope. So I slapped a new carb on it. -Nope. I was seeing a spark all along, when in my dark garage, but was thinking maybe spark breaks down at high rpm so I put on new coil-nope. I even slapped a new muffler on it just in case that was somehow clogged, why not, I'm paying for shipping on other parts anyways. Yep, classic blind man in the dark approach. Guilty. It would of been cheaper just o buy a new weed eater 3 steps ago but I was determined!

Put yet another new spark plug in it - Yep!
Step 1 would of fixed it??!! Are you kidding me!!

Someone handed me a weedeater to fix once, couldn't get it to start for anything, it would backfire and try but wouldn't run... they had tried a new spark plug... but they tried some fancy high efficiency snake oil plug, sure enough I put in a cheapo standard and it ran like a top...
