NO SEAT TIME!

Well, didn't even get a chance to fire the tractor up this week. Nearly sunk it last week, and it's rained on and off all week, and today was no different, so she never left the barn.
I had planned to change out the drive belt on my Craftsman lawn tractor, but the rain started about 8:00, and never let up.

With all the nasty weather, I went and bought me a new tool chest, and base cabinet, and decided to buy some new mechanics tools as well. I did manage to get a little straightening done in the shop, so all was not lost!

Man send some of that rain up north a bit. We got 1.125" of rain a couple of days ago and that was more than the combined total since April. The old brown grass sure enjoyed the shower. I spent the last 2 days on my B26 Backhoe digging out one of the ponds at least as far as I could reach around the dried up edge. Here there is shale at varying depths so about 3-4 feet below the surface in some spots is as deep as you can go. We used the muck to fill in some low spots and with the heat, it should be dried out in a few days so we can dress it up a bit. My BIL had his tractor removing the spoil from each side of the hoe so it was a team effort, enjoyable but smelly. The old muck smelled like a pig pen and so did I from the splashing mud when I dumped the bucket. Amazing thing was that in one side of the pond, the dirt under the water was so hard that the B 26 had trouble digging it at all whereas about 10 feet away was muck and grey sand that was very soft. The hard sand looked the same, grey, but sure didnt dig the same.
