0.00" rain in october.
0.25" rain in september.
2.21" rain in august
3.21" rain in july
0.91" rain in june
1.95" rain in may

Call me crazy, but this is desert rainfall levels. I needed to water my garden regularly. I barely mowed this summer.

Eastern PA has not been this dry as long as I can remember. Just a couple years ago we had major flooding from hurricanes in sept/oct.

Our fall/winter rainy season has started. We never get much but it's enough to make the field grass green and growing again. Since Jan - 2024 I've received 9.52 inches. And 1.78 inches in just the last week.

Same here in NS for the past 3 months or so. My daughters well gets low every summer to the point I have to haul water for it. Usually end 'round end of September at the latest so we don't have to worry about freezing tanks and fittings. I just hauled a load Monday and I imagine I'll have to haul another this weekend as well as there's been no appreciable rain for months.
Weather is definetly getting strange, Monday and Tuesday this week a daytime high of 20C (68F) this weekend supposed to be 4-5C (39F) with overnights to -4C (24F)

I'm a couple hours north of you and just the opposite here. The ground is still kinda soggy from all the rain we got in July & August. We have a seasonal brook that runs thru our property...usually it's dry by early-mid summer. Never even came close to that this year. Got a section of the property that isn't gonna get bush-hogged this year because the ground is still wet there.

And in dry soils, frost depths can be much deeper than historic norms. We had a very dry fall on year, and the frost line went from 3' to 11' and that depth caused trouble with municipal water lines that were 8-10' under the streets.

Just something to watch for.

All the best,

Peter

I am south of you, we only had .5" in July.
0 in August
0 in September
0 in October
.03 so far in November.

second burn ban in 8 years.

3 Filed fires in the are so far.

Canal is empty, usually have 5' of water by this time.
We are quite a few inches below normal. I have to water bushes and trees as they are so stressed.

This was along the canal last night, note 0 water in this area, should be up about 3' here this time of year.

Had good rain in the summer but it has been real dry now for weeks. Dusty and Crunchy. Not normal for Virginia this time of year.

I was told we were in a “Category 1 drought”, if that’s actually a thing.

2nd cutting was low yield here in SEPA and North Delaware.
