My float does not work on my B2910, never has since i bought it this spring, now I got my front mount snowblower on it and it would be kinda nice if it worked! Anyone have this happen to them?

Does the lever on the loader valve not go all the way into the float detent,i.e. pushing it foward past the down position? If this is the case, there have been posts of moisture and rust freezing up the detent ball in the loader valve.Apparently removing the cover from the bottom(?)side of the valve gives access to clean/lubricate the detent parts.Good Luck & Merry Christmas!

Probably an issue you can fix yourself as mentioned but thought it might be worth mentioning just in case. I saw that one of my watched ebay sellers listed a new float detent valve with the "make an offer" option. Don't know if it's the correct float valve but if so, you could probably get it for $80-90.

Remove the bottom caps on the loader valve and inspect clean and lube. Be careful when you remove the detent balls and spring. Check the groove for rust and debris.

There are some great threads on this common Kubota FEL problem. Do a search and I think you will be happily satisfied with the solution(s). Good luck!

I have done a search, i could not find much of anything for this tractor, I would not have wasted my time writing a post if i would have found something.

I should be more clear, the float works, but i have to hold the lever there, it does lock into the detent, so i have to hold it in float all the time which can be a PITA!

Was this tractor purchased new from dealer? If so I would haul it back to him for a warranty fix. That may not be as simple as I think since you live in snow country.

You might want to consider this thread without wasting any more of your time.

From ericbx1500:

"Anybody else ever had a problem with there detent for the float position on their loader? Did my 50-hour on my bx today, which went smooth as silk. I then went and started to move some dirt and the first time I put the bucket in float position it work fine. The second time it would not lock in place, it only worked if I manually held it there. So I called the dealer and he told me more then likely the detent balls are rusted from condensation build up in the two cylinders and the bottom of the control valve (4 way). He was absolutely correct. I tapped the inner cylinder with a wrench and it started to work again. So I unscrewed both cylinders and let them soak in some penetrating oil. Then I cleaned them both up and lubed them really good. Now it works nice and smooth I did notice last season that it was a little tough to disengage the lever out of float position. Now I know why."

I did a search for [ valve float ] and there were 8 pages of data on the float problem.

Essentially, float works by locking the lever in a detent which opens the ports on that spool to tank, letting the cyl float. If the lever will not go into float that is a problem, and if a lever will not stay in float that is a problem, and if a lever is stuck in float , that is a problem.

Most often, the problem is water getting into the detent mechanism, rusting and causing the above mentioned problems. If the cap holds water and it freezes, another source for trouble.

An inspection, good cleaning, and good lube is the answer.

Some of the caps have a cut out to let water out, and some have drilled small holes in the very bottom of the cap to let water out.

Some valves mount upside down, sideways, etc, so make sure the drain hole is at the bottom of the cap , or so any water/moisture will drip out.

...i could not find much of anything for this tractor...
The valve on your tractor is the same as many others... the fix is still the same regardless of what model you have.
