That is an interesting set of pictures :D

Do you have a web cam set up to take them? I was thinking about doing that.

No, it's something called a digital trail cam. It has a passive infrared motion detector (PIR) and takes photos automatically when it detects movement. This one has two lenses and two CCD imaging sensors, color for daytime, and black and white for night. It also has an infrared illuminator which fires at night.

It did not detect the cats inside. They were reacting to whatever tripped the PIR outside.

That's a fat possum! Looks like he's been making a trip to the buffet pretty regular. Never ate one but they're supposed to be good with sweet taters. Thanksgiving is nearly here!

Remember that both racoons and opossums can carry rabies as well as they love to burrow into foundations also they can/will attack and kill your cats

I think you are mistaken regarding the opossum. Opossums aren't a threat to a cat. It's the other way around, although they will likely avoid each other, since the chance of injury from taking on something your own size is pretty good. Opossums usually borrow old burrows. They don't do any foundation digging around here. Rabies is virtually unknown in opossums, although it is possible for them to get it, since they are a mammal.

The cat is smart enough to leave a wide berth between herself and the raccoons. We keep her vaccinations up to date.

Those are very cool pictures.
Does that camera work off batteries? How long do they last?

Thanks. It works off of C Cells or an external 12 volt battery pack. I have no idea how long the C cells will last. I haven't had it very long, and it is still on the original set. The battery indicator still shows a full charge.

I have heard the batteries can last a month or more, even in continuous operation.
