I purchased a used NH 757 backhoe for my TC30 this year and I am wondering if the stabilizer legs are supposed to lift the rear of the tractor off the ground, or if they are just supposed to take "some" weight off from the rear end? Mine won't lift the rear off the ground. Is there an adjustment to fix this if it should have more lifting ability? If so, what and where do I adjust it? The reason that I ask is, if I were on a side hill, I would be nervous, due to not being able to lift the low side of the tractor up to level it out some. Oh, it is a sub-frame hoe. Thanks.

I have a 757 on a TC55DA and it just about lifts the rear wheels of the ground. The tractor has loaded tires and a cab. So it should be a quite heavy thing all together. Go get your pressure relieve checked on the backhoe. I did mine and found out that was 400psi low.

Hi,
The manual says the legs are not supposed to lift you. But to compliment the wheels. The few times I have needed to get higher I just pressed down on the bucket and legs at the same time. She'll lift right up then.

Let me know if you'd like me to scan the manual.

Yeah, something is wrong. The outriggers should lift that
tractor without even slowing down. If neither will lift, then
it is almost certainly the main relief valve in the b/h. Some
b/hs also have reliefs on some or all of their individual circuits.
It is also possible that the tractor's main relief is too low. Get a
$10 pressure guage and measure it. If your loader is lifting
well, then it is the b/h valve.

Thanks gents!

Mike, If that's what the manual says, than I guess that is what I'll have to accept. I will look and see if I recieved a manual from the gent who sold it to me, and if not, I will take you up on your offer. I am thinking that he might have; but haven't seen it laying around anywhere. I was just so happy over the deal that I can't remember if he did or not.

DieselMonk, dfkrug, I will get a pressure guage and check this out just to make sure it is where it is supposed to be. I do have loaded tires too and my loader lift is working well.

It should be able to lift you as you asked, but I think they are designed to give better stability. You have more stability with the stabalizers and rear tires making ground contact than just the stabalizers. I notice when mine get a little filled with clay after moving a few times the hoe can drag the tractor around more. That said, it sounds like the other guys here know how the pressures should work and how to repair it. Mine is the 758C (similar to yours) and it will lift the rear end off the ground with no problem. Paul

For working in the soft stuff you also need to pull the pin and reverse the stabilizer pads before re-inserting the pin. The pads can then get a better bite in the ground when you are digging.
