NH vs LS

I have the LS XR4145C Cab model, which is the exact same tractor as the New Holland Boomer 45. I went to the New Holland dealership and looked at their models first, having been a New Holland fanboy from the old days of farming large acreage. The tag on the New Holland shows LS Mtron Ltd, and when I asked about it, the salesman told me that New Holland bought out LS. Having recently driven by the LS dealership, and seeing all those blue tractors, I figured this was BS but I needed to do my research first. My research indicated that LS, a sub-division of LG, manufactures most of the New Holland utility tractors. These tractors, just the tractors, not the loaders, are rebadged with New Holland logos, and some are mounted with the New Holland loader. Then they add the price difference.

The loader is quite different. I recently purchased a backhoe for my LS. Woods, the manufacture of the backhoe, does not make a mount for their backhoe on LS tractors. But they do make one for the New Holland. After speaking with my dealer and with Woods 'engineers' trying to figure out the differences before spending $2k on a mount, I decided that there is really no difference on the tractor, and spend the money. I did have to make a very small, easy modification to the mount in order for it to work with the LS Loader. Stand by for a video coming out shortly covering this.
I can tell you, that the loader control valves are the same.

Side-by-side, there is absolutely no differences between the LS and New Holland tractors. The only real differences are the loaders and price tag.

Yeah, absolutely not true. He was probably just too embarrassed to admit that LS makes a good portion of their compact utility tractors for them, and sells the exact same tractor under their own name for a lot less. Loaders and backhoes are different, and they are different shades of blue.

Also aren't they the same color?
If loader is different other stuff might handle a little different couldn't

ALL FEL controls work the same way regardless of the brand. Location of the control valve might be a little different, but the controls still work the same.
SOME backhoe controls may be hooked up different (ISO OR SAE)but can be changed to suit. Commercial units might even have a switch to flip to change from SAE to ISO pattern.
I took my B26 in to the Kubota dealer once to check pressure and set to correct value. All they did was re-position the control from ISO to SAE. I couldn't operate it like that and had to figure out what the did and reverse it back the way it was.

Oh I know! I knew he was full of it. But I am not sure if he was simply embarrassed or ignorant. I am leaning toward ignorant. It is not often that a salesman would know the finer details of the products they sell, rather simply sell them to make money.

I looked in the book for my BH to see if I can change the controls. Woods BH90-x. I didnt see anything there. I am sure if I tore into the valves and started swapping hoses or something, that would 'fix' the issue. But for me, the controls are completely backwards! Swing + up/down on the left stick. Bucket curl + dipper on the right. When I was running excavators on construction sites, I preferred swing + dipper on the left, curl and up/down on the right.

I think I prefer the ISO type, if I remember what we called them. I think we always referred to them as Cat vs John Deere.

I had a NH for a weekend to test. The next week I bought the LS. More tractor for less money.

Seeing as LS makes many of the NH models, the only reason to buy a NH would be if the NH dealer was much better, and you did not want as much tractor for the money.

BTW, LS was not even on my radar for the first 6 weeks I shopped. I believe LS offers a very good machine but it is not perfect. Need to let it idle for one minute before using it and for two minutes before before shutting it down to protect the turbo. But you would need the same routine with the NH machines produced by LS.

this should be common practice with any vehicle with a turbo. I currently own a turbo diesel truck that i have a turbo timer that lets it idle for 5 min on shutdown. In fact i did the same for my 95 Toyota Supra while i still had it. no oil on shut down while hot and still spinning is a bad thing.
