One thing no one has mentioned is...productivity.
I speak with experience, not authority...so here's my .02
Before I got my first CUT, I had one of those 'rubberband' driven Craftsman rigs. It did the job of mowing and plowing OK, but was not very productive. It took me 2 days to plow out from the "blizzard of '96". One of it's weak links was weight...not enough of it! My first CUT was a TC21D and I plowed with a FEL. It worked great, but I had to make multiple passes to clean up. However, I have a 20 degree slope on part of my 600'x18' driveway. If your driveway is fairly flat, fine, but any substantial slope...you should seriously consider a larger machine. I considered the TC33 when I recently traded in my TC21, but I used my TC21 experience to help decide. I settled on the TC24DA and I know it will do everything I expect it to do.
You mention you have 6 acres of lawn...YIKES!!!...and I thought my 2.5 acres of lawn was a chore!! It used to take me 4 hrs!! Is the 6 acres just field mowing, or is it really a "LAWN"? If it is a lawn, I would consider using a 'gang mower' set up. If not that, then you need at least a 72" or 84" mower, and either of those WILL require a larger tractor. I actually enjoy the 2 hrs it takes to mow, it helps me wind down....I use a 60" MMM(belly mower), but towards the end of the season, it does start to get "old". 'Field' mowing is one thing, but 'finish' mowing is a whole different puppy. Do you plan on finish mowing 6 acres twice a week?? I hope you like seat time /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The other point I want to make, is also about mowing. Part of my front yard has a 25 degree slope. The larger tractors have a higher center of gravity. If you don't have to deal with any steep slopes, fine...but if you do, you NEED to consider that regardless of what brand or size tractor you buy. MY TC21D was very stable(IMO) on my slope, but after using a Ford 2120 recently....NO WAY would I even consider crossing it with a TC33. Up/down is fine, as long as you use 4X4.
Good luck and listen to what all these guys tell you...
Like myself, their input is based on real experiences, not just knowledge, and many of them have alot more of both than me /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
