Just purchased a 2002 TN75 for $7K. Normal wear on the seats and fender paint. Engine looks brand new... clean enough to eat off of. Has 2400 hours, tires look almost new, 3 cylinder Turbo with 8 gears. Purchased at auction of neighbors... he died of four-wheeler accident (real good guy). NH quoted $6,500 for standard Woods FEL and $400 for canopy. So far I just love this tractor.

Questions:

1. Was the price about right?

2. $6,500 (installed) for FEL sounds high. Price would be higher if no wand currently exists. I don't have a operations manual yet.. is the wand just inside the right fender the FEL wand (it has four direction arrows on it, so I'm assuming that's the FEL wand)?

3. The NH dealer said they prefer Woods over NH FEL... is this BS or what is recommended for FEL?

Thanks for any help!

The price you paid is extremely low. Loader price is about right. I have TN75D with New Holland loader and like it just fine. I'm not sure dealer can still get New Holland loader. Either would probably work fine but if it were mine I would go New Holland. Choice would be self leveling or not. Tractor appears loader ready.

seem to be a very good price on the tractor..the loader price is on line and nothing wrong with a woods loader. I went with a NH loader but that just me and every be the same.

Get the skid steer loader bucket attachment. There is/was another laoder maufacturer lurking on line here. Can't remember the name.

How many remotes will you have left over when the loader is mounted? Make sure the quote is for adding remotes for the loader (and not taking up your existing remotes). Do you want a 3rd circuit for additional loader mounted accessories? Such as a grapple, posthole digger (with a skid steer attachment you can rent the smaller skid steer hydraulic post hole diggers), fork lift.

The NH hydraulics came in an early and late version for loaders. One used the rear remotes to power a loader, the other used midmount (below the joystick) remotes. The joystick operates the remote valves via cable. I have a TN55s with the rear remotes. it is a PITA to remove the cables as it has the rear mount hoses (you have to route the cables on/off each time you take it off or put it on).

Which model of TN75 did you get? 4x4?

I'm not sure this is correct. I think the actual remotes are always at the rear of the tractor and cable controlled. It's just a matter of where the outlets are plumbed to? I may be wrong on this. The first 2 remotes in the remote valve stack are used are used for loader operation. Additional remotes can be added. If the tractor is loader equipped, the price to install a new loader would probably not include additional remotes.

Get the kit that moves the output of the remotes to just under the side step. I'm surprised your dealer didn't do this since the dealers I know all did it as a matter of course on all tractors they sold.

Andy, if I remember correctly and I don't feel like looking it up on NH's parts site, NH did change the loader hookup by adding two remotes to the right side under the step. The joystick controlled these remotes and then you could still get three or four remotes on the back.

TN's first came with rear remotes only, one had to run hoses to a FEL. Then a hard line kit was available to bring 4 lines from the rear remotes to a mid-mount area where the loader hoses coupled on. Finally, a mid mount valve option was made available. This provided two mid mount valve spools for a FEL and provisions for up to 3 rear remotes. TN's with rear remotes only can have two controlled by a joystick and up to two more lever controlled. With no joystick (or a midmount joystick controlled valve) you are limited to three rear remotes as there are no provisions for a fourth lever.

7K for a nice TN 75 sounds aweful cheap... unless it is two wheel drive. In this case a dealer wouldn't allow much over 7 - 9k for a trade on a 4x4 model. In my area all stock seems to be four wheel drive units with a long row of two wheel used. My neighbor has a huge 150hp MF two wheel drive tractor he would like to get out of but no one will give a decent trade price. If you can get by with a two whel drive there are bargains out there but I sure love the extra traction. My lawn tractor is even 4x4 but without it the loader, snow blade, and blower are useless on inclines.

Thanks for clarifying Rick.
