Has anyone had any problems with ground clearance with the NH backhoe (756C) on a TC33DA? I'm looking to get a TC33DA w/ supersteer, 15LA, ind. tires and backhoe (will be my first tractor) but since I'm totally new at this tractor thing I thought I ask y'all -the experts. When I was at a NH dealer the sales person said that they've been getting some customer complaints with ground clearance when using a NH backhoe so they have been recommending the Woods 7500 instead of the NH. Both are subframes. Also, the Woods is pto driven but the NH is not. Is there a benefit to one over the other? It seems that it would be more of a pain connecting the pump to the pto. I would greatly appreciate any input. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Ground clearance is an issue even with our 40D when the BH is attached. If you are careful where you try to take the machine you shouldn't have any issues. I have been stuck a couple of times with mine but nothing that we couldn't get out of.

Besides cussing from time to time should give a guy character, or was that what they called me? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a TC24D with a 756c bh. I don't really haven't had any issues with the subframe of the BH. I have had issues with the very back of the BH where the main boom attaches. I have gotten hung up a few times there. Nothing bad, just annoying. I would be suprised to hear that the Woods is better there.

I have the TC30 with BushHog 650 bh, I too have hung up a few times but no big deal. Mine has the pto pump, dealer recommended the BushHog brand over NH. Terry

I have a 33D with a Rhino 75 [a NH 757 with different decals] and have not had any real problems. Unless you are traversing some very uneven or mucky terrain it won't be much of an issue.

First, many thanks to all for your input...It sounds like the clearance issue is a general one with backhoes. I guess I should have asked the dealer what/where the actual "clearance" difference was between the Woods and the NH. The dealer also said that with the Woods & pto pump you get more hydr. flow or maybe he said pressure. Has anyone found that running their bh from the tractors hydr. is insufficient for the work they were doing? I have not looked into either a rhino or bushHog bh but I probably need to. Are the rhino and bushHog pto driven? I'm guessing that the primary reason for not going with a NH bh is that it cost less to go with one of the others with function and quality about the same than the NH? Also, I have noticed that some backhoes have chains (like the once on a bicycle only lot bigger) to move left and right and some have hydraulics for these movements. Is one better that the other? In Ga. I got a price of $5950 for a Woods 7500 w/ 18" bucket and $4690 for the 15LA loader with 68" & quick attach loader. Are these a fair price? What should I be expecting to pay for a new and/or used TC33DA w/ supersteer and R4 tires in the S.E? I'm looking in the GA., N. FL. & W. NC areas. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Those are some good questions. I think you can get more flow with a pto pump, at least I am sure running a pto pump would put out more than my tractor by itself. I liked the piston setup for swing, but Woods makes some quality equipment and they run chains. Haven't heard of anyone breaking one.

The real clearance difference between the Woods and the NH (and many other brands of backhoes) is not in how the backhoe itself clears the ground... every inch the design raises that up is an inch less of diggeng depth you get.

I think the real difference is in what you lose with the subframe under the tractor. The new Woods "4 point hitch" subframe doesn't cause you to lose much, if any, ground clearance. It's designed to stay mounted on the tractor full time. The backhoe comes on and off the back in a couple of minutes (or at least it will when I get more practice). When off, it leaves you with a tractor with about the same ground clearance as before the subframe was installed, and still lets you install the backhoe as quick (or quicker) than some 3 pt hitch implements.

John Mc...So the tractors 3 pt is not used at all with the 4 pt sub., and the 3pt is still fully functional to use with other attachments as normal with the BH off? Do all Woods BH with subframe mounts have the 4pt? Which Woods backhoe model do you have? I went to the Woods site but did not see any detail pictures or drawings showing how it attaches and works. Well, I saw I picture but it was not of much help to me. Do you know of another site that has more detail info about the 4pt? Thanks

Are the subframe mounted backhoes easy to detach or are they meant to just stay hooked up -- Aside from the Woods 4pt mount mentioned above. If other rear attachments are going to be used does the backhoe need to a be a 3pt mount for quick connect and disconnect and swithing between the attachments? Sorry for the questions...so much to learn... THANKS /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
