Hi all,
I had made my decision to purchase an NH TC29 4x4 with Hydro & FEL after looking for awhile. The dealer had a bunch of gear ones (harvest returns) for 15k. He was trying to convince me to go with the gear (I wrote this in another posting) but felt uneasy about it. I asked him to see if one of his other dealerships had one (I was even willing to downsize to a TC24). After a few days he came back with only a new TC29 with Hydro, supersteer, FEL and Mid PTO for 20K or a TC33 with hydro & FEL for 19K. Those prices push me over my spending limit of 15K. He is the largest NH dealer in my area, but I guess I could rent a trailer and haul one from a more remote location. Or should I reopen the search to Kabota and JD? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Always keep the door open, you never know what might come thru it.

So what's wrong with a gear tractor...NOTHING I personally prefer them because you have most positive power transfer. Hydrostatics are fine for new and occasional users, but anybody who has used tractors for some time will tell you there is nothing wrong with a gear tractor. Many do prefer them to Hydros. Driving a gear tractor is not like driving a gear truck where you have to shift up. Usually you just pick the gear you need to be in for the operation you are doing and start off in it. No shifting required. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

That is a totally unqualifed statement. I've used gear tractors for years, and no, there's nothing wrong with them. But saying they are fine for "new and ocassional users" is insulting and unneccessary. I've used my HST for 127 hours in just over two months, and I've probably been able to get more done than if I had been using my old gear drive where I DID have to shift into reverse a lot. One doesn't just put it in one gear and go unless he/she is only going to go forward. SO THERE! LOL John

Two Andy's in agreement are better than one! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have a NH TC18 gear mode and I love it!
I drove hydro and did not like it. Drive a gear model and see what you think. You just might like it! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It's really not a problem to shift between reverse and a forward gear.

Check out other New Holland dealers while you're at it to compare prices. That one seems a little on the high side. Or is that just me? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

MY TURN !! Pick me ! Pick me!
I grew up on a gear models . I tried the Hydro, but I got one leg that don't work real well because of a back injury .I find I can stay hours and hours in a gear tractor or about 10 minutes in a hydro . Ok ,now it is some one else's turn .
