The header swings back and forth too much on the 489 causing a banging noise (wobble box most likely). I can't find bushings online to limit the swing in the header. You can grab it and it will swing back and forth a few inches, which I understand some is normal, but I think there should be some bumpers limiting the swing. I put on a chunk of belt and cut some grass and it was working perfectly and the banging noise was gone - until the bolts holding the belt were sheared off then the racket was right back especially on any kind of side hill. I just picked the machine up and it's in decent condition otherwise. Sure tough to grease that last u-joint inside the tongue by the slip clutch...........anyways is there suppose to be bushings in there and are they HDMI plastic? I got some snowmobile hyfax slide rails I'm going to use if nothing else.

:laughing:?I fixed it with snowmobile hyfax - the header doesn't swing side to side anymore and it cleared up the banging noise. It still goes up and down very well and is floating good but it took out the side to side wobble. Put down 1200 bales worth of hay and ran like a dream.
The noise was coming from the attachment point of the sickle bar making contact with something when the header fell to the starboard side
