NH 2005 TC30 leaking internally $4000 to fix? anyone else?

I was back at it today. It was not leaking at the input shaft seal, so I dug a little deeper.

This is where I started today.

Transmission housing and foot plates removed.

I may have found the smoking gun, so to speak.

Looking kind of sad right now.

Smoking gun confirmed, paper gasket is torn.

Now it just has to wait for the parts to come in.

I've got right at 6 hours in it from the start, not too bad.
That paper gasket is $167 at Messicks. That is a bit absurd IMO.

That's a more polite way of saying it than I would have used. For that price, I would have got some of the correct thickness paper and made one.

I thought about it, and my wife even asked me if was going to. If it wasn't so far into the tractor, I probably would have.

Look at it this way $167 is a far cry from 4k. CNH parts are ridiculously expensive. But you don't want to risk doing it all over again cause of a gasket or o ring. Been there done that many times.

Just wanted to follow up on this thread. The new gasket from Messicks was metal, not paper. $180 with shipping is still hard to swallow. From start to finish I have about 16 hours and $450 in it. Well worth it IMO.
