NH 1630

I just looked at a 1630 with HYD and FEL, seems like a nice tractor 1998 with less than 300 hrs. $14k. Ive been looking at new JD 790 or Kubota 7800, this machine is a bit bigger than the Kubota and way more comfortable than the JD (also lifts more), feels really good -- and it's a bit cheaper than either one -- but I have not seen much posting about the 1630 on this site or others. Is this a decent price, and is this in any way an orphan--any more likely to have trouble with parts/service? Other thoughts?

I have a 98 1630, Hydro, 7308 loader, 4 whl drive and supersteer. As of today, have 350 hours on it, with 2-3 hundred more coming yet this summer. At the beginning of the season it had 300 hundred on it.

Other than normal maintenance, the only other things that have happened is one of the L shaped hoses on the hydro cooler broke and had to be replaced and the tilt steering schock went out, both somewhat common on the boomers.

Overall it is a good tractor, but my needs have changed and I will have to get a larger tractor next spring.

New, with the loader a five foot rough cut rear mower and box blade, it was a little over 21K with tax. According to the prices I have seen for new tractors lately, on this website, I either paid to much or tractors have gone down. The price of 14K that you were quoted seems fair given the amount of hours on it. However you do not state where you live, so there is now fair way to judge the price, there are online implement dealers where you can pick up a TC29D, the tractor that is close in size to the 1630, in gear drive with a NH loader for $15,550.
