Next time you\'re sure you\'re doing it right...

...Think about this series of photos at Lackofbrains.com /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Since links don't always last forever...it shows a pair of large cranes ending up tipped over...in a rail yard...what were they thinking???

Personally, I think this one is much better (and more apropriate for TBN) /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Personally, I've never needed a job so badly that I'd need to do something like that. That's just plain crazy. What do you think the point of the whole exercise was?

Before the "incident": "What can go wrong? We have two cranes. We can handle that little tower". /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

During the "incident": " Oh crap! Pucker factor of 12. This might hurt!". /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

After the "incident": "Someone bring me some clean pants. They did say we were bonded AND insured, didn't they? Help me outa here!". /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Re: Next time you\'re sure you\'re doing it right...

Could be that somebody forgot to remove some anchor bolts on the one side?

It looks like one side of the tower never left the ground - the cranes just pulled themselves over.

Re: Next time you\'re sure you\'re doing it right...

DaveNay,

Actually the sequence of photos showing the TLB climbing the rail car is not as far fetched as it appears. That tractor has been specifically modified by a company that specializes in material removal from rail cars.

The tractor climbs the rail car and moves along the top from car to car to unload the contents. If you look close at the photos you will see frame work attached under the bucket, mid tractor and at the stabilizer legs. This frame work extends across the width of the rail car.

It has to be an awesome ride!

This is OK but OSHA makes me wear fall protection if I go more than 6' high? Now there's a crazy safety rule!!!

Re: Next time you\'re sure you\'re doing it right...

Regarding the loader/backhoe/train.... I can comprehend how it might be done...but look at the last two pics.

Looks to me, that the extension of the hoe in the 2nd to last pic is almost at full extension, except for the bucket. The front wheels are BARELY on train.

The LAST picture, the front wheels are 5' further, the hoe looks equally extended...

how did they hold the back of machine up, while resetting hoe to push forward & assume same look in both pics??

I'm not arguing the authenticty of the pics, just thinking that there is a pic missing that illustrates how the machine moved forward in mid air?
